Gf just burst in to show me her new pilates shorts while General Wossname and I were both on a sliver of health.

Might need to go apologise for how I reacted now.

Lady Bawhead down, angry bullhead down, time for sleep.

Still not sure I’m actually having fun.

I enjoyed my sesh slightly more today. bull went down 3rd go. But then I died on the cusp of acing the next miniboss and now I have to clear out his supporting cast again and I really can’t be bothered.

they’re extremely weak to shurikens

Did that fella first time somehow. Particularly funny cos I can do pretty much nothing else available to me

Tbf when the helptip was dodge like crazy it got my hopes up and it’s the most fun I’ve had fighting one of those arseholes. Still don’t wanna pick off his horde though.

Big fan of proper bosses starting out by shouting “MY NAME IS…”. It’s very “my name’s John and I’m here to say…”

Anybody managed to beat the dickhead purple ninja? He’s doing my box in.

Which one? I’ve found two.

Also: no.

Assume it’s the first one. Off to the side on the way to the burning mansion.

Him and the ogre now posing a problem. Also been battered by the drunk a couple of times, but not counting that as I haven’t seriously tried to take him on yet.

On the bright side, the Shinobi Hunter only took two tries.

Conclusion: I’m still shit.

Yeah I’m going to go back and have another crack at him tonight. Not hopeful.

Christ I’m glad I’m not playing this £60 re-skin. Sounds fucking shit

Weak troll, D-, must try harder.

You can pick it up for £45 if you want pal.

Horsey man is hard

Having slept on it and had Sekiro dreams, I think I’ve got a firmer idea of what I do and don’t like so far. I like exploring the world, and picking off small groups (well, one or two) of grunts. Planning out stealthy routes through areas feels like a natural evolution of that thing of figuring out the most efficient route back to a boss in Souls games, but with added deathblows.

The two big bosses I’ve done so far were really hard but ultimately satisfying, and stupidly easy, respectively. No prizes for guessing which one’s which.

I also like having the option of tackling areas in a different order, which is hardly revolutionary but is kind of necessary for a game this hard.

Mini-bosses are the mixed bag so far, in that they’re mostly good once you’re there (didn’t particularly like the bull fight though) but the approach to them can, as has been said already, be Quite Annoying. Packs of grunts in general are just fucking irritating. I thought that the game would give you the option to “solve” those by figuring out a clever approach route, but that doesn’t really seem to be the case. Picking one or two off, running away, re-engaging when they’ve split up etc just feels bad, and time consuming, when I’d rather be doing more interesting things.

The combat flow is obviously excellent, too.
