Great timing as I’ve literally just stuck this on

Debut album, fine, cool even. Ramones - Ramones. Makes sense.

Mid-career, next album is self titled. Huh? Why?

Usually some nonsense about how they feel the latest record is the truest reflection of who they are as a band blah blah blah.

Think examples where this was actually the case would make for a decent ten reply thread. Absolutely not the case for that Pearl Jam album……

Does this count?

In a vaguely similar vein AM by Arctic Monkeys and BE by Beady Eye

Good point

Can (1979) - 12th album
Deftones (2003) - 4th album
Liars (2007) - 4th album
Slowdive (2017) - 4th album
Blur (1997) - 5th album
The Libertines (2004) - 2nd album
Duran Duran (1993) - 8th album
Fleetwood Mac (1975) - 10th album
Genesis (1983) - 12th album

dunno if I’d call any of these their respective peaks.

Easily their worst (the two with the new singer don’t exist)

shorthand for “we really got back to our roots on this album” isn’t it
