They’re both more inventive uses of the gimmick than Searching is IMO but are fundamentally stupid films.

Saw Searching, thought it was gonna be scary or suspenseful or something based on the films that were trailed before but nope
Quite like gimmicky stuff though so found it watchable enough
Watched Jupiter’s Moon last night. Saw it had mixed reviews, but it sounded batshit crazy, and I loved White God - so was still really looking forward to it. For the first half hour, I was amazed and definitely thought the critics had got it wrong. As it continued, though it had some pretty impressive cinematography, it just got really tedious. It flipped between any thematic idea every 20 minutes and so ended up saying nothing at all. One of those screenplays where they let the concept runaway with them. Really coulda been good if it was a bit tighter or just stuck with one (or maybe two) idea(s)!.
watched Open Windows after Kermode referenced it in his Searching review
first half is good but it doesnt half get dull and trail off in the second half. should’ve been a short feature

Hello Bugduv, I go to the cinema twice a week on average.
I just checked and I’ve seen 64 at Cineworld so far this year. Plus maybe another ten at the Prince Charles, and I saw about eight during the film fest.
Plus a tonne of (mostly) shite on TV I’m probably close to 100 at this point.

Film bloggers / journos I follow on Twitter often push 400/450 a year, they do review films for a living though.
I’m currently at 125 for this year if you care (you do not).
£215 a year seems expensive to me. I’d have to factor in about £3.50 a trip to get there and back aswell, so £580 a year for two films a week. The Cineworlds near me are kind of massive squid cinemas for families aswell, are they like that in London?
The best indendent cinema near to me costs £7.50 a month for membership which gets you peak tickets for £7, so with travel that would be £1,182 a year for two films a week. £100 a month’s a lot, eh?
Guess it’s not so bad if it’s on your way home, etc.
It varies. My local one currently is Wood Green which isn’t great for getting the smaller releases, West India Quay will be my local one again soon though and it was great.
It’s a fair amount a year I guess but you don’t notice it monthly and it takes care of something to do at the weekend every week innit.
West India Quay and Wandsworth (if you can get there) are both really good. Although annoyingly in the last few weeks a couple of films I’ve wanted to see have been on at Wood Green and Enfield only.
I pay the extra couple of quid to get Leicester Square thrown in but only because I can walk there fairly easily from home and work, wouldn’t really bother otherwise. Value of the uplift has decreased a lot since I joined as they shut two of the four cinemas it covered.
@bugduv I find the cinemas in London generally devoid of young people, probably cos most of them cost like £15-20 a ticket now.

Regarding London cinemas, does anyone know what the Vue at Westfield Stratford is like? Do they show much of interest?
