As I said, so long as they stay away from The Secret History!

Actors are supposed to be able play people different from themselves, and there’s great joy in seeing someone absolutely nail a role that is way outside of their normal range but still … you’d think they could have cast people even just slightly more suitable right? Gives you a real leg up for believability when you’re not having to struggle against preconceptions before you’ve even said a single word.

Rule number 1 - never get people not from Eastern Europe to do Eastern European accents unless it’s a deliberate joke like in GLOW

Would frankly be racist and playing up to stereotypes

Saw Rosemary’s Baby for the first time last night, it’s a bit good, isn’t it?

I mean the character of Boris is a bit on that level of caricature in the book anyway, isn’t he?

Pain and Glory carved out a place in my heart and nestled in. I absolutely loved it, one of the best of the year.

Am going to have to change my August vote, sorry Hobbs and Shaw

That Natalie Portman film directed by Noah Hawley has had awful reviews apparently. Hopefully Hawley is back on form for Fargo season 4!

Liked the Souvenir a lot. I’m a sucker for tales about posh fuck ups. Bonus points for digital release on the same day as cinema.

So the co-writer of this did a massively acclaimed solo show at the Fringe (and other place) this year, about how her son nearly died as a baby. I know some other people from here saw it. Started off quite funny, but fell off a cliff edge into something incredibly dark. It was great.

Found out about her involvement with this film after seeing the show, so I’m convinced there has to be more to it…

I would be very up for a Luca Guadagnino-directed TSH mini-series.

David Fincher would be good too

Saw It Chapter 2 this week.

The Good:
Decent acting from everyone involved, Bill Hader, Jessica Chastain, Billy Skarsssssgard and the fella playing Eddie (can’t remember his name) were all standouts.
Funny in parts, some unintentionally hilarious moments as well.
Nod to The Thing at one point, which was nice.

Stephen King cameo

The Bad
Bumhat special effects and the same elongated body horror person used about 5 times, yawn
Not scary at all.
Mangles the book a bit, but has to, but still…

Big spider shithouse

Did I mention the special effects were total guff?
Far too long and a bit boring in places.

Probably being overly harsh, it was just… fine? I wouldn’t watch it again.
