Oh I don’t consider it in any way profound.

Kind of. The London equivalent would probably be Twickenham or Richmond. (i.e. wealthy places that would prefer not to be part of the overall city)

Yes but in a particularly snobbish, self-important way that’s difficult to describe. It’s all golf and bruschetta and keeping up with the neighbours, and the people from there tend to be absolutely fucking insufferable. And think that everyone - everyone - aspires to live there.

We moved to Bearsden from Airdrie when I was 12 and my mum keeps moving house because she can’t stand her posh, nosey neighbours. Not sure how many more house moves it’s going to take before she figures it out.

I would nominate The Hoogster’s constant dedication to keeping us all in the realm of fact for POTM every month, but I don’t think it would get the popular vote. It’s a proper public service

The Cumbria County Council Development Control and Regulation Committee approved the application for a new coal mine unanimously. The committee consists of Conservative (8), Labour (6), LibDem (3) and Independent (1) councillors.

No party can escape the blame for this decision (except the Green party, obviously)

I grew up in Hamilton so please know I don’t mean to be snidey when I say this - that must have been one hell of a culture shock! The TV and I are discussing moving from London to Glasgow and Milngavie will probably be an area we look at, I’ve repeated warned her that I might be drummed out of the neighbourhood when they find out I’m Lanarkshire scum…

Good to finally see that Labour Students is being wound up, to be replaced with something that at least has some accountability to its members and isn’t stuffed full of pro-war weirdos.

Obviously, the usual suspects are jumping up and down about it.

Haha

she’s a real tory now!

The only thing I like about Swinson is her accent. Reminds me of

But man, what a joke this is about David Steel. This interview feels like a weird sketch with Jack Whitehall - I think because the interviewer is genuinely struggling to believe the shit he’s hearing. (Also what’s with those dining room chairs on a lawn?)

But look, someone referenced a book that isn’t Harry Potter.

That’s got to count for something, right?

I’m not sure Animal Farm is much progress
