The director’s next film is apparently a live action remake of Your Name
Ah yes! There’s already a live-action Your Name though
funny games is still my favourite halloween costume
Yeah I’d agree with that. Happy End seemed to come as go and got a bit unfairly tarnished as a lazy one but it was still good
I am going to give TOTW another go I think, even though I have it on DVD, I’ll use my mubi subscription
talking of Mubi, I’m watching Baxter, Vera Baxter. the film has a score of panpipes that runs through the entire film. urgh
that dvd version that was around for years looked like trash. i managed to find a nice HD rip online which is what I imagine will be on mubi. well worth it imo, looks infinitely better than the dvd version.
it’s in the Haneke collection I have, I don’t recall the quality being too bad, but I’m also someone who regularly watches bfi in 360p due to my shit laptop
I apologise
my friend took great delight in telling me recently that he watched la dolce vita for the first time in youtube quality, on his macbook, while on a coach
Hidden is still a searing work of ruddy genius then.
Just about still the best Haneke I think. But he’s added to my list of people who’ve made multiple 5/5s. So well done to him
So great. Really worth watching again with the director’s commentary too. One tidbit I didn’t notice was how the henchman who falls over and shoots himself in the head can be seen falling over twice earlier in the film.
Run Lola Run is a legit 10/10 film for my tastes. Not sure it could be improved in any way (Even if it is aggressively late-90s)
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again
I’m never gonna watch a Haneke
You really ought to
Aha! No
Hidden isn’t a bleak ride, also the film that got me proper into cinema and we’re all thankful for that
Tell me the Haneke film that is the best balance between great and not-bleak, and I’ll watch it before the end of the year
well…
