My last trip was very much on the edge (went to a live q and a screening where they specified not being able to shake hands with anyone)

I know a fair few people here have seen Tenet, Babyteeth or Saint Frances so I expect this poll will be a bit more evened up eventually

Is there a way to access the Mubi library through the TV app? I’m on a Roku box.

I’ve also been struggling for stuff to watch on there recently and thinking of cancelling but this would convince me otherwise.

My best is Never Rarely Sometimes Always, but I’d recommend Fire Will Come, The Whalebone Box, The Assistant, Krabi 2562, Disclosure, Lynn + Lucy, Babyteeth and Clemency.

19 films for August, best first watch is either A Scene at the Sea (on BFI Player as part of Japan 2020) or When Marnie Was There (Netflix), worst probably Zombieland Double Tap.

Been to the cinema three times since they re-opened, Clemency had 2 people (inc me), Tenet around 20 (in a 500 capacity screen), and Trolls World Tour (8 people). Honestly have no idea how the Dome in Worthing is staying open.

On my app (LG smart TV) there’s a library tab next to the now showing tab in the top left of the screen

My screening of Tenet had 10 people, max on opening weekend. I know there’s a million screenings of it as there’s nothing else out but did expect it to be busier.

I’m just about to leave my flat to watch Proxima in a virtually empty cinema.
I’m a little bit giddy I have to admit

August
41 new films
Best: Dragon Inn
Worst: A Woman’s Revenge, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote

As for best VOD release since April, another vote for Lynn + Lucy.

I did not have a good time.

When I saw Tenet I was the only person in there apart from two people with a guide dog. At one point they left the screening, but left the dog behind. It looked as though it was enjoying the film even less than I was.

think i might head back to the GFT soon to show support and that.

There were zero other people in my screening of Proxima. And 2 other people in the screening of Dark Water I just left. Which was a very solid film. Love a procedural, love Mark Ruffalo, love a Mark Ruffalo procedural.

Me too. Loved Dark Water, caught it in Glasgow before lockdown.
Are you planning on chucking out yer teflon cookware?

I was the only one in my Proxima screening too. Thought it was very good. Eva Green was great, as was the actor playing her daughter.

A beautiful tribute to the astronauts who happen to be women

Yeah Dark Water felt like Official Secrets to me - two films that were never going to be masterpieces, but did what they aimed for just about as well as you could have hoped for, and a good 30% better than most other similar films manage to do

I was a bit like… hang on wtf at the end. But maybe it shouldn’t be at all surprising!

Sadly I didn’t really enjoy Proxima, thought its message was a bit garbled… like… mum’s shouldn’t be astronauts? Dunno. Eva Green was very good though, agreed.

Shit still need to watch that. And Adam Driver in The Report. But yeah only Spotlight and All The President’s Men stand out to me as anything more than ‘solid’. Maybe Zodiac if that counts. Ruffalo really is the king of these films eh haha.

I’ve got a lot of time for Keira so ymmv, but yeah - lots of competent people doing office work, standing up for causes they believe in, scenes in courtrooms, surprise real-life “twists”. Lovely stuff

Imagine a film where he is just doing dirty investigative procedural work for 2/3 of it and then his leads are dead ends and he gets angry and becomes the Hulk and just destroys his workplace

no i wont
