I’m surprised there isn’t already a thread about Mick Head. His new album “Loophole” is a cracker.

This song in particular.

We were lucky enough to support him in Glasgow when he was touring his last record and he’s still great live.

Interesting article in today’s Guardian about his most recent recovery too.

He’s got an incredible back catalogue both solo and with Shack, The Strands and The Pale Fountains.

‘The Magical World of The Strands’ is actually a good place to start…amazing album. My next favourite would be Shack’s ‘Waterpistol’…another great album.

I really like “Waterpistol” but always tend to steer people towards starting with “HMS Fable” as I think it’s a bit more accessible.

Not that any of it’s particularly challenging to be fair :slight_smile:

I’ve never checked out much of Mick Head’s stuff but I’ve always loved Something Like You after hearing this acoustic cover Tim and Charlotte from Ash did for a Peel session back in 1999

My favourite promoter is always putting him on so I tried the first couple of songs on the last album and wasn’t really feeling it. Will try the new one at some point.

That run of albums of Waterpistol, The Magical World of The Strands, HMS Fable and Here’s Tom With The Weather is not matched by many other artists, according to my ears

John and Mick have both been posting about the recent HMS Fable vinyl reissue and they’re both following the “official” Shack twitter, so I’m guessing it’s a proper reformation.
