I don’t understand this ‘karma’ thing? How can it mess with your karma? I didn’t realise you were a massive hippie.

Also, last year we got it for the girl and she had her first winter with zero colds and shit. Neither of us got it and we were ill the whole time so I’m tempted to try to get it for the first time. I’m in my 40s now, though. I never used to get ill at all in my 20s or most of my 30s.

Dangerously close to using the word “anecdata” because of some of the posts in this thread.

Dangerously close.

I was kind of being silly but there are people who actually think that but Penoids post just shows how most people who can afford to take karma into account are in a privileged position and i probably should say it unless I mean it :frowning:

Bet she was in agony by spring

3 days off you say? Hmm.

My mother basically doesn’t believe in germs or medicine. She thinks all illness is caused by “negative thinking” or not taking 20 vitamin pills a day. I pretty much ignore everything she ever says on the topic of health.

The flu vaccine is incredibly ineffective (it’s a money-making scheme which is why it’s so aggressively marketed).

There are loads of different flu bugs and big pharma basically takes a guess at which one is gonna be doing the rounds next winter and creates a vaccine which probably won’t even work, and at worst might give you a dose of the flu.

If it were me I personally wouldn’t bother getting it.

Yes. I have flu atm. It is shite.

i’m not eligible for a free jab but have paid for one a couple of times.

flu is horrible, and even if not 100% effective the jab reduces the chance of getting flu. also reduces the chance of my mother getting flu and then getting pneumonia again if i’m less likely to bring it into the house

flu vaccine doesn’t contain live virus so can’t give you flu

“Some people have cold-like symptoms, including a mild fever, sniffles, headache, runny nose, sore throat, cough and muscle aches for a day or two after getting the flu jab.”

Not my words, the words of the NHS.

that’s not flu. you can’t be infected with flu from the vaccine

if it was free and convenient then yeah why not, something to tell the grandkids about

OK - It’s not flu, it just happens to be an illness with every conceivable flu-like symptom, which lasts for days and comes on fast after getting the flu shot.

it’s generally mild and unlike flu, not infectious

Of course it’s not infectious

Keep on believing what they tell you.

It’s ignorant scaremongering like this that means measles and mumps outbreaks are now commonplace in the UK. Give it a rest.

Not it’s not. It’s unchecked immigration that means measles/mumps/polio/TB outbreaks happen. Everyone else is already immunised.
