The issue with Pogba, beyond the fee putting huge pressure on him, is that his own fans hype him up to such an extent that opposition fans can’t wait to knock him. One feeds the other. I’d consider most of the regulars in these threads to be quite sensible, but generally, in real life for want of a better term, United fans have quickly decided he’s the best thing since sliced bread based on quite a simple run of games. I literally hear or read people every day describing him as the best in the world, and this sort of attitude is endemic of United fans.
In reality Mourinho has quietly gone about patching up his defence, Carrick and Herrera have brought good balance to that midfield, Mkhitaryan’s given them pace and Zlatan’s doing more than his fair share up front, so Pogba’s to some degree getting away with it, but over time his performances will level out and he’ll put his mark on big games, but in the mean time their supporters might be wise to play him down rather than build him up when he looks like peak Yaya Toure at home against Sunderland or Leicester.
