Deftones - white Pony. What Sean said…
Calexico - Carried to dust. An album that for some reason I just can’t keep away from, just a really solid collection of tunes that tie together really well.
Metronomy - the English Riviera. Just a faultlessly solid album, doesn’t do anything too flashy but I can listen to it over and over without skipping a track.
TVOTR - Dear Science. A bit spoilt for choice with their albums but this for me was where their production and songwriting just seemed to peak at the same time.
Kendrick Lamar - good kid m.a.a.d city. A bit of an obvious choice for 5/5 albums from the 21st century, but the obvious choices are usually obvious for a good reason.
First five I thought of, not necessarily my top five 5/5s:
Idlewild - 100 Broken Windows
Explosions In The Sky - The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place
Death Cab For Cutie - Transatlanticism
Frightened Rabbit - The Midnight Organ Fight
The National - Boxer
GY!BE - Lift Yr Skinny Fists
Frank Ocean - Blonde
At The Drive-In - Relationship of Command
There Will Be Fireworks - The Dark, Dark Bright
Kendrick Lamar - good kid, m.A.A.d. city
Jens Lekman - Night Falls Over Kortedala
Bat For Lashes - Fur & Gold
Life Without Buildings - Any Other City
Sea Power - The Decline Of British Sea Power
The Notwist - Neon Golden
Cannibal Ox - The Cold Vein
Rafael Anton Irisarri - The Shameless Years
Nala Sinephro - Space 1.8
Joanna Newsom - Have One On Me
Protomartyr - Relatives In Descent
An instant 5/5 album and is one of the best records this millennium. A few other 5/5’s but NFR is the first one that comes to mind when there’s one of these threads.
