Pretty much impossible to choose one, but this is a track that I’ve loved from first listen. Kim’s snotty lines and the lo-fi raggedness of the first part, the tripped out mid-section in to that fucking guitar tone at about 4 minutes and then the long white noise outro…
I can’t even name a favorite artist. But that thought makes me wonder, does that fact automatically make naming a favorite song harder? Just because there are more songs than artists? Hmm, I will have to think about this.
It’s hard for me to pick a favorite of all time, because a lot of my all timers are so entwined with different memories and some are hard to go back to.
So I’ll submit a track that I absolutely love, that ties in with how I got into music (cheesy Europop on the Radio 1 Top 40 with Mark Goodier) through to how I’m now really into really repetitive music like The Field or Mark McGuire. Also adding the caveat that I’ve never been a clubber, or a raver, but even I as a fairly reclusive loner who loves I See a Darkness by Bonnie Prince Billy as much as the next fairly reclusive loner, can recognise that this is an absolute banger of astronimical proportions
A love song to indie / alternative music. Never thought I would see it live but then they reformed in 2015 and played the roundhouse. By the final verse I was in bits but very, very happy.
And finally, for now, Rockaway Beach by The Ramones. Short, fast, catchy. A song I will never tire of listening too. Pure brilliance imo.
All about the drums
Also just sounds like it’s constantly on the verge of desending into chaos and I like that.
“Chewin’ out a rhythm on my bubble gum,
The sun is out and I want some” is such a terrific opening line, my fave Ramones song for sure
It’s a semi-obvious and not particularly original choice, but I’m fairly certain my answer to this question will forever be…
It really is, no messing around, just straight into it.
Was literally about to post this. Best album of the 80s.
Come on… impossible
