Hey team,
I need some recommendations. Looking to improve my shaving experience AND get a bit more eco friendly than disposable cartridges. Tell me what’s good and has a low carbon footprint pls
Zeal out.

Probably old fashioned safety razor. I had quite a good one but I left it in a hotel. I’m on Harry’s now which is an incomparably smoother shave but involves a lot of plastic both in the cartridge and the packaging.
You’re a star.
Now to work out if I can do this without slashing an artery in my neck
(Cheers Sexybum too)
I got a reconditioned 60s Gillette (I think the same model as used in a scene in Goldfinger)
Really love it.
When I shaved I always felt shaving oil helped loads. Both in terms of making the shaving easier on my skin and also preserving the blade (citation needed).
Got a Cornerstone subscription. Every so often they send me blades and cream, and I’ve got a monogrammed razor handle. Very happy with it.
literally had my first shave with my new safety razor today. pretty happy. imagine my technique will improve but didn’t kill myself which is a start.
This will likely be my main aim too
i would say watch a few YT videos and such on the subject. the main thing i keep needing to remember is not to use pressure.
Yeah this is key. Disposables and your Mach 5s and such teach you that you need to be pressing down to get a clean shave, but you don’t need to at all with a safety razor
While this is relevant to my thread, it is not helpful Mr TTF.
used to get fantastic results with one of these babies when I was a shaver.
just fantastic results. for serious shavers only.
Not a face shaver here, but this makes a really nice shaving lather:
Probably can’t beat that for eco-friendlyness unless you have a more local supplier. Also very much more sensitive on the skin than the shaving foam I used to use.
Looking to get a safety razor soon when I run out of cartidges.
I’ve got a nice shaving brush and a block of shaving soap from Penhaligons. Not sure how much is was (present) but it gives a lovely creamy lather, and has lasted well over a year, shaving 2-3 times a week. The soap is in a lovely wooden dish too.
Aggressiveness sounds dangerous for a new safety razor user!
Ooh, might put this on my Christmas wishlist. Can i use it straight out of the shower, without foam, like i do with my rubbish Gillette disposable ones?
Jesus, you people. I wouldn’t advise it, but I’m not the boss of you.
Why waste the foams of the world on my face?
So you don’t peel it like a potato.
