“Custom Concern” by Modest Mouse is pretty much a one song soundtrack for this. Really captures that feeling of dread of walking through the parking lot, knowing that each step brings you closer to the upcoming 8 hours / 40 something years of misery.

I seem to remember Iggy Pop in interview describing early Stooges followers as like “early Christianity,” further describing them as people with shit jobs, horrible skin conditions and fucked up cars.

Edit: There actually might were at least a couple interviews where he said something similar. Maybe I’m accidentally combining them.
