It’s this functional thing. Comfortable enough but as we rarely use the sitting room it’s underutilised.

You could do this sort of thing for a living if you wanted to. Seem to have a really eager eye for cool stuff. Loads of people would pay for interior design like that, or in the least you could earn a fortune from sourcing stuff and selling it on, etc.

I would probably be more interested in stuff like stage sets etc. The sort of people who have the money but lack of personal initiative to end up hiring an interior designer for their house tend to be a total pain in the arse.

I do sell some stuff online, mostly 60s/70s craft stuff.

I used to get Russian cameras from my work trips to former Iron Curtain countries and clean them up/fix some stuff and sell them on ebay, but I stopped doing that because there are so many idiots around. I had a long saga with a guy who had bought this impressive looking Russian camera from the 50s that is a total pain to use. I had made it clear in the listing that this camera is a pain, but also has a lovely lens (included some photos I took), and included a pdf of the English instructions. He couldn’t work it, and claimed it was broken, and tried to get a refund without sending the camera back, and I had to hassle to get him to send it back, specifying that all the accessories had to be there.

The whole thing took about four months, cost me money in sending it special delivery, and endless time with emails and outsourced ebay staff with very low levels of English, and was a complete pain in the arse. When I got the camera back in the end, it wasn’t broken at all.

Yep. Most food photography is utter fakery.

Lots of glue and varnish and ingredient substitutions so stuff doesn’t melt. I did a workshop for teenagers this summer where we learnt some of the tricks, and then made some fake icecream and they did some photoshoots.

Icecream is instant mashed potato and food colouring.
Milk is pva glue
Ice cubes are plastic and condensation on glasses is carefully painted dots of glycerin
Most meat is semi-raw and painted with brown colouring to make it look cooked.
Most food is cold, and tampons soaked in boiling water are hidden behind to create steam
Lots of toothpicks and glue inside stuff to hold things in place

Pretty much. The main issue is that edible food tends to melt and ooze under strong lighting.

I have the same sofa as you now. However I ended up with a ridiculously long version. Basically I wanted the same large sofa as in your photo, but I live on the top floor and the staircase twists round and it was impossible to get it round.

So they offered me a special deal on some bits of an ex-display modular version. The room is long and thin, and a corner sofa didn’t work, so I ended up with a 9 foot long sofa built of two sections. (Photo from when I was putting up some pictures- still haven’t got round to putting the type tray up in the gap).

The throw is to protect against this moocher, who pays no rent, yells at me to feed him, and lays all over the furniture like he bought it. He should get a job.
