yeah i’d really recommend it if you want something that’s kind of low key and atmospheric. it’s not really “horror” by modern standards.
ooh one more as well, i read ancient images by ramsay campbell which was decent. it’s british and had a bit of a wicker man vibe about it.
no clue, was the first of his i’ve read. it started out in a non-linear way and was quite elusive and creepy for a time, but the more it revealed the worse it got, and ended in absolutely howling cliches.
