Round our way the residents have, for the last couple of years, organised Autumn street cleaning ourselves, which is nice as a sort of community-spirit thing but was definitely done through gritted teeth. This year the council closed all the roads for street cleaning, but did it before any leaves actually fell, rendering it pretty moot.
