Looking for a new interest this winter? Have Eurosport? You’re all set. Join me in the delights of

THE 2016 - 2017 FIS SKI JUMPING WORLD CUP

Qualification for the first round (Ruka, Finland) was today, so you’re just in time to catch the entire season!

So why is it better than all the boring things you like because you never bothered to expand your tastes and live in an echo chamber (that’s a thing now right I think it’s a thing)?

Here are most of the half way significant competitors. Choose your favourite so that watching is more fun.

SIMON AMMANN

VINCENT DESCOMBES-SEVOIE

MARKUS EISENBICHLER

ANDERS FANNEMEL

MANUEL FETTNER

JOHANN ANDRE FORFANG

RICHARD FREITAG <3

SEVERIN FREUND

KARL GEIGER

JOACHIM HAUER

MICHAEL HAYBOECK

DAIKI ITO

Just… D-:

NORIAKI KASAI

MACIEJ KOT

STEFAN KRAFT

ANZE LANISEK

STEPHAN LEYHE

MANUEL POPPINGER

DOMEN PREVC <3<3<3

PETER PREVC <3<3<3

ANDREAS STJERNEN

KAMIL STOCH

TAKU TAKEUCHI

DANIEL ANDRE TANDE

JURIJ TEPES

ANDREAS WELLINGER

Ski jumping is always unpredictable though, so probably half these guys will be nowhere and loads of the “wait…who?” people will be challenging.

But there are two people more important than the competitors:

GORAN JANUS

and WALTER HOFER

First round proper is LIVE on Eurosport Friday 25th at 15:45 and Saturday 26th at 16:00 (seems like Saturday will just be the last part because apparently snooker and tennis are more important? hahahahahaha the fuck though it’s WINTER it should be WINTER SPORTS sort it out).

You can find more details and the full calendar here:

and here:

Sold, right? Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Karl Geiger, Anže Lanišek, and Peter Prevc are total BABES. Could watch them for days.

LOVE ME SOME SJ ACTION.

#4

<3 PocketMouse.

#6

This was epic. Or is this normal in 2016?

Peter Prevc is the defending world champion and INSANELY talented. His performance last world cup was probably one of the best seasons by any sports person in any sport. He and Domen (baby brother) are my faves, then Richard Freitag. Love most of them other than Team Norway (urgh) especially Tande who should probably quit ski jumping and focus on curating his Instagram, I mean seriously…

(I half jest. You’re supposed to hate Team Norway. They’re essentially the villains.)

#8

That was pretty special but also super heart breaking.

Also makes me feel sad because Robert Kranjec is out for the season and he’s the actual sweetest. :frowning:

#9

Going to have to watch the first round on recording, BUT just heard our wood burner has been fitted so it’s going to be super wintery and <3

Excited!!!

#10

Nearly at the end. Just seen baby Domen’s second jump. WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW. Everyone should be terrified at the level he’s reaching aged seventeen.

#11

Love him so much it hurts

#12

So which Prevc is going to win??? So tense!

Domen? Shit it’s going to be Domen?

That’s one hell of an OP!

As I cycling fan, I’m used to watching different sports on Eurosport, but ski jumping is one of the only ones I’ve never enjoyed.

#15

Peter’s reaction when he realised he was still going to be on the podium despite the fall :joy::joy::joy:

#16

Eurosport Player is only £19.99 for 12 months! So can watch whilst the channels are showing the boring stuff.

Perfect.
