2 x upgraded calalyst for triple poison, Nightmare to triple up one of the catalysts, runic pyramid so they all stick in my hand.

I guess you haven’t used the Silent much, it’s the ludicrous amount of poison per turn I’m inflicting.

Yeah I beat one run with the Ironclad, then did a bit with the Silent but not sure I ever focused on poison. Another game I have to go back to.

Please teach me how to stop playing this game…I need help

The trick is not to be a massive penoid and instead be a cool dude

So until I looked this game up and saw it was simulating a deck of cards I was really intrigued to understand the intersection between Rogue and a simulation of building a deck in a garden.

We don’t have a separate thread for Hades do we? Maybe we should have? Or am I only getting into it as everyone else is done with it?

A different Hades thread might be good. Especially as there are a couple of non-Switch weirdos who have missed all the Hades chat in there.

Both Hades and Slay The Spire have been such time stealing games for me. Love them both!

jesus christ Theo.

I was into Magic when it first started (and stopped a year or two after) so no one needed to invent a term for those games.

@xylo has my old Icy Manipulator!

(Also rogue is an endless freebie game so I just figured it must be something fun and weird around making decks, like that goose game.)

Magic isn’t a deckbuilding game though.

Isn’t niche terminology fun!

Isn’t it? I recall building my deck. That was the whole point?

I mean that is funny that the term doesn’t cover Magic, though

The Penoid Community has decided that at a push we could refer to this as deck construction games, although really CCG/TCG covers it.

Deckbuilding games are defined by the mechanic of building your deck as part of/during the game, not before it. Dominion is the classic example.

Been stalled at ascension 20 for ages with the silent, getting pretty fed up but I keep thinking the next run could give me that magic combo I need. Elites are so hard but you really need to score a good relic early… Realistically the only way I’m going to do this is with a mega poison deck or the heel hook infinite loop, which means I’m trying to force it in that direction, with bad consequences.

I’ve been grinding ascension 20 with the Defect for ages. I’m not stopping until I get the heart kill.

Silent is next on my list but I find her really boring too. Shiv/discard decks aren’t really viable at the highest level IMO so you’re very reliant on lots of poison.

Glad I’m not the only one finding that with shivs. I got to the second final boss this evening, I was limping after the time twat so I didn’t get far against birdface. Wasn’t that great a deck so there is hope for when it all finally clicks. Then I will finally call it a day with this absolute classic of a game.

That’s it isn’t it. 66% chance of running into time wanker and then you’re stuffed with a shiv deck unless you’ve got some insane scaling going on.

Am firmly of the opinion that the ironclad is the most fun and versatile character

Watcher imo.

Have only played a handful of runs with her. Haven’t quite clicked with her yet

Reinstalled because the new patch looked encouraging in terms of pushing up the Ascension ladder. Fifteen minutes in and I’m already yelling at my screen because two question marks in a row were enemy spawns. Feels good to be back
