I found a leak which says 320 but the quality isn’t great, the singles don’t sound the same as the official releases and it’s all a bit muddy or something? I would have waited until Friday but will be at Green Man.

There are plenty of strange choices on the album and I expect it will be far from one of my favourites of theirs but I like it so far for what it is, and expect it to grow on me a lot when i hear in good quality and get used to it.

Yeah, the record deserves a fair shake no matter what tbh tbf

I’ll certainly give it a… Rapid Spin

It’s on Spotify now, at least in Australia.

Ah look, they’ve made the change

Listened to the album loads today and still don’t really know what to think of it. Enjoyed it for sure but it’s interesting how I could see Hurry On Home as a sort of increment from No Cities To Love but it feels like the outlier on this album for sure. The stuff I’ve heard works a lot better in the context of the album and in terms of lyrics it feels like the slightly duff moments from the already released tracks are the only things that stick out.

But it also feels like a completely different band. No Cities… felt sort of freeze-dried, like they could have banged it out at any point in the final 5 years before the hiatus but this sounds very modern to me and also like an older band because it seems less relentless and more considered.

Aye fair well I guess now that we are at release day there’s time and notice to get it changed.

What did you think of the penultimate song?

Hmm, I recall the last song being very quiet and last song-y but otherwise I was listening while working so didn’t really pay huge attention to each track. Just overall enjoyable

I didn’t ask about the last song

Want to give this a fair airing before jumping to judgement, but first listen wasn’t great…

Feels quite flat dynamically? Like there’s nothing really leaping out and it’s kind of just a mass of disappointment?

Hurry on home sounded way better though, so maybe I’ll come round to the rest in due course.

Its definitely a grower

I know I just meant that was the only one I didn’t know I could tell you something about :grinning:

Another vote for the singles sound much better in the context of the record. Gonna stick with it.

Will add though that on both times I’ve listened it, I keep on hearing Bad Dance as Bat Dance :grimacing:

Then let’s dance the bat dance
We’ve been rehearsing our whole lives

Really enjoyed this on first listen and glad to hear that improves with repeats.

For some reason though I really got the fear about how some of the old songs are going to sound on this tour. Started getting flashbacks to Smashing Pumpkins playing Bullet… during Adore era tours. I’m probably being silly.

I’m seeing Sleater-Kinney for the first time on this tour - you have now given me the fear! I know the setlist will likely be heavily weighted towards this album but really hope they don’t play older stuff in the same style.

Waiting until after work to give the album a listen - in the distinctly underwhelmed camp thus far but hoping the record works as a whole. Didn’t like St. Vincent’s last album much so not sure how optimistic I am about this…
