Also I think the songwriting in general is better on ROT and dialling back the production of Treats really helped.

Fair enough. I like big catchy hooks, and stuff, and I didn’t get caught by as many on ROT as on Treats and Bitter Rivals, but something something subjective something something personal taste.

I quite like some tracks (Crucible, Baptism of Fire especially) but not sure how I feel about it overall

I reckon it’s a great album, but I think this might be the end of them. They don’t seem to have recaptured the listening public’s imagination

was just listening to this at lunch, as it happens. It’s ok, but i agree with the disjointedness of it, in so much as it makes it harder to enjoy/get into. at times it’;s really good though.

I’ll listen to it later but I’m into the idea of them releasing shorter albums more often and on their own label. The last album felt more experimental so hopefully this will mean more weird stuff from them

Brilliant! Listening to this now…

Ooh, that’s a shivers kind of good start. And then, it just keeps going exactly the same all the way through. Different. No guitars(?), all keyboards and vocals.

Instant replay. This has got top 10 songs of the year written all over it for me. I am officially excited for the mini-album (and about it too).
