I’m so made up there’s another overwrought anime story mode. I’m not even messing I love how simultaneously goofy and self-serious the subspace emmisary was, good to have it back

So stupid it’s great.

on my third rewatch of the direct.

no, its real STOOPID.

I dunno man. To me jigglypuff has always seemed dumb as hell.

Listen, nintendo didn’t give me EXACTLY what I wanted so I have every right to whine until release.

Yet. They haven’t given you what you wanted yet
I have characters I’d like to see too but there’s so much in there it’s going to be enough to tide me over. The unlock of characters looks like it’ll mean a lot of people have to play as a lot more characters than they’ve had to since melee days.

aye, really looking forward to this tbh.

thanks for your calming words, smash bro :facepunch:

looking forward to…:

Ness
Simon
Isabelle
Diddy Kong
K Rool

need a nasty boring sword character, but no one looks that cool to me. Corrin maybe?

I think this will be an interesting balance they will have to strike… will the unlock of characters be random… or will everyone start off being a pro at Kirby and the others (six was it to start with?)… then progress in the same order… so only pros/people who can be arsed rinsing the game unlock the final characters…

It looked from the little we were shown of the single player that there were a few different maps in the single player… space/countryside/towns etc so maybe these are the first 7 or so unlocked things then they all have their own paths of chracters to unlock… I dunno… pointless speculation. Not going to be able to play it until 16th December because Im on holiday, but plenty to dip into over Christmas

In Brawl you’d unlock a character once getting them in the Subspace Emmisary Mode, as well as other ways (beating arcade mode a few times etc) and one character could only be unlocked that way iirc. In some smash games certain characters were unlocked after playing the game for a certain number of hours.
Also really looking forward to boss battles a la Brawl in the adventure mode. Reckon that’s why Dracula etc looked so detailed in the previous Smash Direct.
Everyone should be able to unlock all characters but it may take time. No doubt some nutters will have it done in no time though!
I do think it would be funny if lots of players main Kirby off the back of this - I hate playing as him but fair play to Sakurai for making one of his own characters the star of the show.

me too.

and the soul calibre style collecting of the power up things will keep me occupied.

Aye, I think a few people on here were left confused by that yesterday.
They thought spirits was in every part of the game and convoluted rather than a standalone thing. People thought Spirits was the story mode before World of Light was shown.
Im just wondering if any amiibo stats from SmashWiiU carry over or do I have to start fresh (if i bother at all) :man_shrugging:

Can anyone explain to me why I was completely turned off by Smash Wii U, but I’m still interested in this one?

They didn’t give us Guybrush or the Lemmings or the Tachikoma from Ghost in the Shell either

The Wii U was crap?
I mean yes I loved the games but playing with the tablet was cack. Also with few users online wasnt great.
Really think developing wiiu and 3ds versions simultaneously impacted wiiu big time as it was clear that the 3ds version was the priority as thats where the big customer base was and as such things that were possible in wiiu such as ice climbers had to be ditched to suit 3ds. Also 3ds got an adventure mode while wiiu got shit.
Also some weird choices in Smash WiiU - no story/adventure mode and then the state of this fucking thing:

Because it seems like a significant upgrade whereas the WiiU version, much like almost every Nintendo exclusive on that system, felt like more of the same rushed to market.
