I’ve only played smash on the GameCube , and I never really got to grips with it then (no one to play with at the time was a factor). I still have it though.
Will probably give this a go - hopefully I won’t be unbearably shit at it
I mean even if you were shit at it, just adjust the difficulty for offline play and youll be able to have great fun and do all the same stuff. Plus, for online their algorithm looks really great for matchmaking. If anyone has a 3ds the Smash demo for it should still be on the eshop if you wanted to get an idea of this.
Yeah, my son will deff be up for playing too, will be good to team up online as he will get way better than me after about an hour of practice
I look forward to coming home from the pub and have this be my new mindless multiplayer game I drunkingly lose at over and over again. BLOPS and Overwatch you’re on notice!
Seems CEX are buying Mario Tennis for £20. Think I’ll sell that to help fund this
I’m with @anon76851889 and weirdly intrigued too, despite not enjoying Smash on Wii U much.
A shiny Nintendo cut scene goes a long way.
I wouldn’t bet against the online on this being a hot mess without a wired connection either. The fact they ‘encouraged’ you to buy a LAN cable and connect it physically smacks of ‘lag issues’ to me.
I use ethernet on every console and my PC. It’s just the best way to play multiplayer, especially if you’re looking to play competitively.
Which is fine, when you’re at home. But Switch is portable so it needs to be semi-reliable.
I think a good bit of that is for ‘pro’ (and people who think they are pro) players. As those kinds of people care about using nerdy millisecond accuracy - it’s why Nintendo are still making wired Gamcube controllers. In 2018. For one game. WiiU Smash was okay online and Ive no reason this will be any different, at least when docked.or at home on handheld.
I dont remember the net code being bad on the Wii U version
I think Smash can get away with less precise netcode because its not combo based. If it works as well as Splatoon, Arms and Mario Kart I’ll be happy
This. People might not like their smartphone apps etc but Nintendo’s online has been really solid this generation.
Hmmm Mario Tennis wasn’t great online, at least during launch, it did get better
I could never get a decent game of Smash going on Wii U personally. It’s one of the reasons I bounced off of it so early, as I had no one else to punch repeatedly.
But glad it was ok for others. Maybe this’ll be fine then.
I just bought a dongle.
Only a tenner, I’m going to rinse you guys in the DiS Lobby with my stable ping
Ah okay never bought that one. They are going to throw so much capacity and resources at this though. All that app stuff alone looks like they know how important this is. Dont get me wrong it might still have some issues over Xmas when every single person who bought it is trying to play but Nintendo are definitely a lot more savvy now. And honestly with all the stuff needing unlocked I think my online play will be sporadic at best at the beginning.
Anyone up for some DROWNED IN SMASH on launch day?
Still got your WiiU? Im actually very tempted to fire Smash U up tonight
Im tempted to take the day off work. Throw on my smash tee
annoys me how much their logo just looks like the button in the middle of the Xbox controller
I do, but I lent it to my brother-in-law who was bored and wanted something to play.
Am having real withdrawal symptoms from Zelda, Bayonetta 2 and watching YoutTube on the TV, so am considering stealing it back soon…
