I think you can join arenas with the rules you are looking for? Agree it’s a bit annoying as online I prefer to play 1 v 1 no items and don’t get those rules that often.
Really odd that Rayman isn’t there already, especially given the controls in his platform games are very Smash like already
As far as I’m aware the unlocks are more or less random, so Wario could crop up at any time. May be wrong though.
There is a bit at the start which shows you specific routes to unlocking characters in classic mode

generally don’t play with items on unless i’m playing with a big group of people, in which case it can be fun. they’re also great in the WOL campaign.

It’s shocking. Even as someone who has read about the game (but never played it) I didn’t know what mode was best to start in. Had even less idea what buttons I was pressing. Then looked online and saw about tilt attacks and felt even more out of my depth!

Would love to play a platformer with some of these characters. Squirtles movement feels fantastic
