Unbelievable. Even that Ukrainian lad managed to get “Bumsnogger” right.

I’ll maybe give it a go tonight and report back. Tempted to get a wii classic pro to use with it as youd have all the buttons that a Switch pro has, dpad and sticks swap places and the stick has the octagon like a gc pad.

Had my first go at online last night.

Couldn’t get on for ages, kept saying connection error. Eventually got on for a couple of battles that were fairly laggy.

The problem with nintendo online games is they really struggle with NAT settings that arent completely open.

Guess youre only allowed to play when i want to play guys, for thr Ducky ethernet garuntee tm

Yeah, that’s what I found when googling. Checked, and my internet connection had NAT F (although weirdly, it worked OK for Mario Kart). When I tried the wifi extender network, for some reason that had NAT B, which is when I managed to play a couple of laggy games.

Any safe tips for improving the NAT thingy when the Ducky ethernet guarantee is unavailable? All of the suggestions I’ve seen just involve opening all the ports on the router, which I’m not particularly keen to do.

Open all the ports on the router. All other devices should have ample protection built in these days or it can be installed. Or find out what range smash uses and open those

Guys I’m going to have another stab at this game soon. I felt totally out of my depth when I first tried: not a clue what anything did or why I was winning or losing or anything. If anyone could kindly help with any/all of these before I have another stab I would be most grateful:

-character to start with (I guess it makes sense to mainline with one character whilst you’re a noob?)

-mode to start with. I don’t know what they do or where would be good to begin.

-any other top tips (or links to guides to absolute beginners) - the few I’ve seen so far assume a level of knowledge that’s just outside my sphere.

the video basic guide in the game is actually pretty good (although they could have done more/ made it longer)

It’s in the videos/ media bit of the menu

Thank you!

This video is actually alright.

I would start with classic mode as it is the simplest of the ‘campaign’ style modes.

Characters I wouldn’t really be an expert on but Mario, Dk, bowser don’t have anything too complicated going on I don’t think. Or maybe Link if you want a sword.

1 week in!

It’s a shame the online is so lacklustre because I can see this slipping into a 5 minutes a day game for me rather than a ridiculous time-sink.

Love almost everything about it but as an IRL loner, IMO the game will struggle without a good online setup, let alone even a stable one, it’s hard to put too much time into grinding through the spirit modes.

… is this legit?

Fuck knows but I’ve went for it. All looks risk free - 30 day returns, item description doesn’t say box only or some pish like that. Pick up today from Argos looks like bullshit though.

I played this at work with some people yesterday. Good to see a bunch of 20 year olds getting into it for the first time. Only had 3 matches but, yup, it’s Smash!

Looked a little nicer than the Wii U one and felt a tad more frantic.

Glad y’all enjoying it.

Don’t do it. Just had an email from eBay saying something about a compromised account. What a ballache.

AVOID.

Feels like the update has improved the preferred rules matchmaking

It’s one of the core patch notes. Good work to respond so quickly on that.
