So, guesses are in: were all the contestants bemused by the obscure location of “Mousehole”, pronounced Mowzle?
i knew how to pronounce it but not sure i remembered why
Aw this one I know pretty well
prepared to be very annoyed any second now
Feel free to say your guess real quick
Fooey? Not too sure on the spelling
Fowey I think
Reminds me of the pronunciation of Mulhouse in France. “Mulooze”
In 6th place, with a guess of Dartmouth, which is 112 miles away, it’s @eems!
yep
Yep, and as it turns out, not that close!
In 5.5th (because she was a bit late), with Fowey at 54 miles away, it’s @laelfy!
Followed quickly in actual 5th by @colon_closed_bracket, with Bodmin!
Bloody love Fowey
It’s got a lovely harbour, iirc
Spoilt for choice down there, St Mawes is lush too
Next up it’s @anon34135029, who had this to say:
Mousehole (pronounced Mowzle) is on the south coast of Cornwall near to, um, fuck, Falmouth I think
Close, but no cigar: 32 miles, and 4th place.
Always North Coast for me, but it’s a beautiful part of the world.
Watch how my knowledge runs out of steam there, mega
Always been more of a fan of the North coast, and 11 miles away from Mousehole is wonderful St Ives (tbh I’ve never been there, but it’s got a Tate museum, so it must be good).
Well done @paidinfull for that one - a third place finish.
