The other thing is that people were angry and upset because ATP was great, it should have and could have worked, and it was Hogan who fucked it. Watching it fall down was upsetting because it did come down to Hogan’s inability to slow down and get some sound advice, I agree we’re unlikely to see something like it again. Booking agents are sharks but it was Hogan shaking on those deals.

Interesting.
If Primavera bankrolled a UK edition of that Weekender like a week before the Mallorca one and looked after the financials I reckon it could be a winner.

enjoyed the one small mention of maybe they tried to do too many gigs and started booking the same bands all the time.

Almost everyone in this article comes across as a complete fucking pain in the neck.

I’m not sure that this is the case, actually.

(Yeah he doesn’t work for Primavera anymore)

As an old, boring man, even the description of the ‘good’ ones sound quite annoying

He is mentioned as being a booker in an article for El Pais in 2019, I think.

Stewert Lee is quite annoying isn’t he

Spot the errant comma:

‘…seeing various members of Sunn O))), Mastodon and the Butthole Surfers body popping to “Walk This Way” by Run DMC, and Aerosmith queuing up for pizza with Julian Cope.’

What I’ve learned from the events industry over the years, as a punter, worker and performer, is that everyone always goes “Oh it’s all run on hopes and dreams and held together by sticky tape hahahaha what are we like” until it fucking falls apart and you find out that the little people don’t get paid and the top dogs walk off with the cash. In every fucking situation.

He was a booker there for a short while. As I understand it, he isn’t any more.

Shit it was from 2017. Fucking hell time has no meaning I thought I read that article when they announced LA and London.

Deborah Kee Higgins: We were young and idealistic and had this idea that we could be totally non-corporate, remaining true to the fans, and actually the fans didn’t give a shit – we should have done sponsorship.

Been saying this for years. Nobody would give a shit if there were big Doc Marten signs either side of the stage if it meant something as great as ATP could go ahead.

Trying to translate what his point is there. Is it that people should just accept losing money because that’s rock ‘n’ rock, maaan?

Did they interview any of the punters? (i’ll read it later)

I think Barry left Primavera this year after getting a big pay day for giving them the idea of…What if two weekends?

Aye.
The no sponsors thing was kind of funny when bands played the pavilion stage as there was coca cola, burger King, pizza hut etc adverts all around anyway.
