Strongly suspect it was Barry that left the misogynistic note for Sleater-Kinney that inspired Ballad of a Ladyman.

Terrible burger bar / hatch that served grey meat - ate plenty of shocking burgers from there over the years

Barry was just a crazy idealist whose ideas were too pure to work in the real world maaan!

You’re a fucking promoter, your job is to be boring and make sure stuff is where it’s meant to be and that people are paid. And as a reward you get into the dressing room after the gig where the band will ignore/tolerate you, that’s it.

And if you’ve got the skeleton key you’re not breaking in, dick.

Absolute chinny reckon that they just handed that out to the people putting on the gigs btw.

Not quite the Beastie Boys / Bikini Kill lakeside house you shared the other day.

There were quite a lot of regulars; one came up to me and said, “I’m not feeling good, I’ve just had a line off the bins behind the kitchen and shat myself.” I said if you use that as your quiz team name I’ll give you a point, and he did.

The almost mythically-great All Tomorrow’s Parties festival.

The Drive Like Jehu one was the perfect festival for me, but I never even considered it because I was so sure it wouldn’t happen. A few years on though, coming out of this pandemic, yeah, I’d be willing to gamble for the chance of an ATP weekend right now.

Really hope Barry doesn’t see this thread…

“They hate me but they want to give me money…”

Nailed on he at least lurks.
Whatever happened to Jamie Summers - ever get taken down a peg or two?

Bit sketchy interviewing Matt from Hookworms, particularly given how tangential they were to all of this.

Think that was when I realised who you were after watching the Manchester derby in the same pub at the National ATP

Great times

we can only hope

I did meet him a couple of times…but my memories from those years of my life aren’t great so not sure how it went. Unfortunately i am useless at taking people down even half a peg so that didn’t happen!

I’d still go!
