Never got to see them live but they were high on my gig bucket list. :slightly_frowning_face:

I did, however, see Nile Rodgers/ Chic live and he performed a very well known summer anthem.

might as well have been split up for ages tbh, but genuinely really sad. probably listened to them more than any other band thinking about it, and discovery and homework properly got me into dance music as a kiddo.

Maybe they were just really sad that Nile Rodgers defected to SG Lewis and said “screw the whole thing”?

Been ranting to my mates about this album all day again. Was in the first ten CDs I ever bought, absolutely blew my mind when I got it.

Count how many times you hear that said. Truth is they simply stopped making music.

It’s fantastic.

Did a bit of a double take when I first read that

It feels suspiciously unnecessary to announce this to me. Felt like they might well be done anyway – maybe you’d hear from them again, maybe you wouldn’t. Obviously they’ve been about myth and legacy building for a long time, so if they have ended it entirely, they surely couldn’t resist the epilogue, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if this isn’t the last we hear from them.

Have to say, I find their career a bit disappointing.

Homework is simply an all-time classic electronic/house album. A magnificent piece of work. Roule was a great label too, with bangalter putting out some bangers on there too.

Daft punk did nothing else that came close. Some cracking tunes dotted around, but pretty “meh” as a whole.

I’ll never forget homework though, just a huge influence on the scene.

Missing their 2007 tour is one of my life’s biggest regerts. Seem like absolute bellends tho

I’ve come across at least two of these setups already. One of em started mixing other big fin de seicle dance hits into their set, completely broke kayfabe :sleepy:

This is the ‘Curtain Call’, all over again!
Although, could be a nice earner.

I honestly feel they will be back. It has been a really tough year and I’m not discounting some kind of personal tragedy or something that we are not privy to. I feel they are kindred and brotherly and have creative souls. Yeah, they’ll be back.

So according to the Wikipedia in the original 2007 film this is taken from the other guy dies a much more horrible sort of death

After walking for an extended period, the silver robot slows down and comes to a stop. Becoming aware of this, the gold robot walks back to the silver one. The silver robot continues to stare at the ground for a moment before removing his own jacket. He then turns away from the other robot, revealing a switch on his back. The gold robot flips the switch, which begins a timer. When the countdown ends, the silver robot is blown to pieces. The remaining robot piles the remains of the silver robot, then continues to walk. The gold robot eventually falls to his knees and attempts to reach the switch on his own back, but to no avail. Another moment passes before the robot removes his helmet and repeatedly slams it into the ground until the helmet shatters. Using one of the shards as a burning-glass, the robot focuses the sunlight to set his hand ablaze. The film ends as the robot, completely on fire, walks in slow motion through darkness.

(I had no idea this film existed. It sounds like it’s very very much NOT FOR ME though.)

Was reading the comments on Stereogum about this. People talking about how they’re sobbing about this news and how they’re devastated. Quite extreme.
