Yep.

City fudge the BBC Price of Football survey every year by offering a limited number of season tickets for £300. In reality if you want one you’ll generally pay £600ish, and lots are well over £700. Small change by London prices, but not if you’re a warehouse worker from Beswick, and/or have kids, especially when you factor in the extras.

They also offer some cheaper match tickets to do this to a lesser degree. If you want to go to City v a top six side you’re realistically going to pay £50, though you’d have to be a nutter to buy direct.

???

your point about naming a stand after this guy to try and stop the Munich chants is an excellent one

bloody love learning about players from years gone by and extra info about events i was already aware of thanks to these football threads pushing me towards wikipedia

Swift’s hands, which had a finger span of 11 3⁄4 in (29.8 cm), were sufficiently large for him to easily pick up the ball with one hand, and gave rise to the nickname “Frying Pan Hands”

that’s fucking amazing

Would be ace if Spurs fans that phone in regularly on talk sport, could get together and workshop a way to pronounce Pochettino’s name, that they’re all happy with.

Stratford is about 3 miles from East Ham and I think I read that West Ham had some roots closer to Stratford during the early days of the club (presumably when we were Thames Ironworks). No issues with the location from a historical perspective. From a practical perspective, it’s easier to get to from other parts of London/the country because Stratford is a major rail hub, but it’s more difficult to get to for many of our core fan base from Essex and East London, so that’s a bug bear with the regulars. There’s a strong consensus amongst West Ham fans that the move favours casual/new fans and not the regulars.

Regarding the location, another important factor and the only reason I favoured the move at the time, was the presence of Tottenham in the bidding process. How serious about it they were, we’ll never know and it seems like the were bluffing to put pressure on their local authorities to allow them to develop White Hart Lane, but it would have been disastrous to have a Club that is thriving as Tottenham currently are only a few miles away on our turf, so to speak. It would have been very worrying in terms of snapping up the future local supporter base.

Can’t believe the fish has got more likes than this joke. Not enough Murder Inc Records fans around here.

Shocking story but weird article, the tone in the last couple of paragraphs is a bit ‘there’s not much you can do about it, the dirty foreign money is all around you’

Perplexing

But what can be done? scratches head

There’s nothing new here, but it’s always worth taking a few minutes to remind yourself of what’s going on in Qatar. The realities of the slave situation, tens of thousands of them, what will amount to thousands of deaths, countless destroyed lives is sickening. Trapped in forced labour with no escape, passports and IDs confiscated, your “wages” being deducted for your upkeep as a slave. Unidentifiable victims who’ll never see there families again.

Agree that the what can be done was particularly disappointing in terms of the article. Rather say nothing and let the reader come to their own conclusions than say we can’t take it off them and obviously can’t stop watching football or buying products by the World Cup sponsors. It basically added nothing and took away from the severity of the issue.

Warning: contains podcast chat

I had a go at Iain Mackintosh a few threads back, a bit unjustly, but enjoying his new football league podcast. A smart move away from the very saturated premier league/top European football market

Is it a Football League podcast, or a Championship podcast?

mate don’t fuck with the fish, that is 100% certified gold

Only 3 episodes in, but it seems pretty even so far. At worst a 50/50 split (championship/league’s 1 and 2)

Then I shall try it! Thanks @wonton for your help xx

The guests have a big impact. Big Eck McLeish was alright…but obviously then the focus was dragging large second tier midlands clubs into the abyss.
