Had this recently in a bar in Manchester, tasty: https://www.jamesclay.co.uk/core/brewery/schoefferhofer

Cum

Yeurgh.

Not 100% on whether this is ‘YEAH’ channeled through the gurgling of lovely chinotto or the erugh of someone with [insert your choice of Tory/child/insult of choice] taste buds

Not following this, the breweries pay the duty, don’t they? so would put up the price by the amount of the duty, the pub would just need to put it up by the same price as the brewery to make the same profit…

Pretty much. Felt like I’d been cruelly tricked the first time I had it.

This stuff is good only 2.5%

Vaguely related tweet I enjoyed

That’s right, the brewery would increase their prices by the duty amount (say, 5p a pint) thus passing it on to pubs and consumers - but then they would add their own price hike at the same time (by another 5p on top of the duty raise, making a 10p/pint increase). Didn’t explain very well, sorry! Basically the brewery would time it so their own price hikes would be blamed on the taxman

Coffee

i just had a 0.0 heineken and it was fucking gross

The only drink that comes close for me is tomato juice, in that I genuinely really like drinking it.

I’m planning on giving up drinking in the middle of the week, to see if it has any impact on my mood. Usually have about 3 cans every Wednesday night as something to look forward to (to get through the intense middle of the week boredom). But I’ve currently found a substitute for having fun which doesn’t involve alcohol (Sims 3 lol). And organising my mp3 collection, which is a complete mess.

I’ve had more time to try other Matés but nothing else compares does it?

BIG FAN of MischMasch tho

Big fan of lime and soda in a pub, mainly for the absolute lottery of what it might cost. Can be anything between 20p and £4.

Harveys do quite a big range of really low alcohol beers, they do four or five between 0 and 2 per cent and they’re all tasty enough. Cheap as chips as well, £1 a bottle usually.

There was a rolling thread on the old boards to record lime and soda prices paid. Some absolute shockers cropped up.
