I think it’s in this thread. I made it by stripping out posts from The Last Jedi thread. This thread starts with the Falcon discussion, pretty much.

Yeah Ive only seen TPM review once, I just watch half in the bag, re:view and the nerd crew.

Define smug bellends relative to average DiSer tho.

Sneering and mean-spirited, about standard for them.

I like the Plinkett reviews even though they are occasionally problematic, as I think the good stuff outweighs it, and I love how in-depth it is. However I do think the schtick wears a bit thin when they apply it to EVERYTHING - the prequels are terrible films which deserve ridicule IMO but sometimes I wonder if they ever enjoy anything.

Resisting the urge to review Theo’s review.

Yeah their TLJ jedi review was so clouded by smugness they missed quite a few key plot points.

I can’t watch any of their reviews of the newer films, because they’re fine. They’re not perfect, they’re nowhere near prequels-level bad, they’re fine, so when they attempt to skewer everything (including every trailer, including everyone who doesn’t hate them) in the same way as they did the prequels it just comes across as smug and mean.

love mean spirited takedowns to be honest, world needs more of them

They do say some very un-PC stuff which I’m pretty sure is tongue in cheek but I think part of the problem is they’re just a group of lads sitting around in Milwaukee drinking beer and talking about films so they know each other well enough to know when they’re serious and when they’re not but it doesn’t always come across that well in their videos.

They also do take a bit too much joy in taking the piss out of LA and film culture in general and I think some of it comes from jealousy because with something like the Nerd Crew they’re mocking people who make a living from sitting around talking about films which is exactly what they fucking do.

The world needs more bitterness and negativity? No, I really don’t think it does. Doesn’t make anyone’s life better.

pray tell how you can take the piss out of something as monstrous as Hollywood “too much”

I watched the Cloverfield one and their racist attitude to Gugu Mbutha-Raw’s name was every bit as painful as Sheeldz said.

Good analysis presented badly/annoyingly is I guess my final position.

Not tagging me in this so I easily notice when someone agrees with me just seems wrong @1101010
