Hey guys, I’ve got a week of annual leave coming up next month and I’m considering going away for a few days by myself.
Where would you recommend?
Just for reference I’m going to Budapest later in the year and in the last couple of years or so I’ve been to Barcelona, Amsterdam, Reykjavik, Vienna and Copenhagen.
I am very pro-Prague as it fulfils my main criteria of good infrastructure, stuff to do every night (sports, culture), and is nice and not too expensive.
Are you thinking one place or travelling around a bit? My default answer is usually Germany - loads of nice cities to visit, surprisingly cheap (outside of a couple of spots) and easy to get around…
Ha yeah, my criteria were a bit vague. I’d prefer to stay in one place. I’m only looking at 3-5 days I think.
Probably going to trigger the DiS QI Klaxon, but Berlin in that case?
munich with a day trip to salzburg
or stay in brussels and do day trips to brugge, ghent, antwerp, liege etc. all less than an hour on the train

I’d second Prague, went alone there and had a lovely time
Istanbul, most interesting city in Europe.
I went on solo holidays to Iceland, Norway and Biarritz in France. Norway was an outlier because it was a Northern Lights cruise, but the other two were fantastic city breaks
My advice is more to find something you want to do and choose a place and build a holiday around that. I don’t mind solo travelling but I find it can feel a bit more aimless without clear anchors of things to do.
Seville or Bologna.
Seville is my fave solo trip I’ve done I reckon but Istanbul was right up there as well
I know this isn’t very kind of me but I just can’t prevent myself reading at least of a couple of the posts in this thread in my head with Donald trump’s voice and it’s making me snigger a bit
Barcelona worked for me due to short travel time and amount of things to do in the city.
I went to Athens by myself and loved it
Second vote for Athens, I had a really nice time on my own there! Copenhagen too but you’ve already been 
Presumably you’ve already hit Paris?
