Solos

A few not by my favorite band:

Neil Young, “Like a Hurricane”
So much emotion. What’s there to even say about these.

Mad Season, “November Hotel”
This one might even be Mike McCready’s best, despite all of the amazing Pearl Jam and Temple of the Dog ones.

Stone Temple Pilots, “Trippin on a Hole in a Paper Heart”
If Dean DeLeo were in some 70s band instead of STP, he’d be a borderline household name. All of his solos were so well thought out.

Kyuss, “Spaceship Landing”
Great outro solo that kind of changes styles partway through.

Afghan Whigs, “You My Flower”
All of those early Afghan Whig solos fit the songs so well.

And pretty much any Built to Spill and Alice in Chains solo, I can’t settle on just one right now. Oh and of course “One” by Metallica.

I’ve never understood people who make the “guitar solos are bad” blanket statement.

J Mascis gives it the beans in this;

And in more cheesy territory, the guitar solo on Pink Floyd’s Comfortably Numb always gets me and although everyone’s heard it a million times I still love the epic closing solo in Freebird

This one springs to mind - imo, from their best album and this, in particular, Dimebag Darrells finest hour

Enjoying this thread alot

I do love the guitar work at the end of this from Meursault.

My Favourite Things is jaunty as fuck! Always makes me feel so good.

Can’t argue with that - he’s one of the masters!

Another vote for Janes Addiction - Three Days from me.

All the solo’s in Estranged by Guns N Roses.
Slash at his best.

Lord knows why, but I still love this solo, and this song. I could probably blame it on living in the American mid-west when I was a teenager

edit: I posted this before I actually watched that part of the video. Fucking hell. Apologies.
