ITT: songs about getting a bit old and what they mean.
The Fall: 50 Year-old Man
What it means: Who really gives a shit about how old you are? Let’s make some noise.
Pile: Firewood (here in a live session)
What it means: I’m comfortable getting older, because being youthful always had its problems. Anyway, the fire is still burning.
The album is even called Everything’s Getting Older
I post this song everywhere around my birthday every year.
I find it really haunting.
I love how broken he looks in the cover picture too.
(Makes me feel very old that this is a song about getting old, written by a 27-year old )
Terminus by Half Man Half Biscuit is ludicrously sad. “Grey falls on the green, as I try and get used to ‘me’ and not ‘us’…” gets me every time.
Meaning: I am getting on a bit, but I am not actually dead yet. My voice is fucked though.
fuck, forgot how good this tune/album is
