weird to think all the disaffected teen moshers in that papa roach video are probably middle-aged accountants/arbitration lawyers now.

remember when there was that brief trend for bands to have a story and do some acting in their videos before the song started? did limp bizkit start that?

Hybrid Theory is the 5th best selling album of the 21st Century apparently with 29million sales

Only album ahead are
2000 The Marshall Mathers LP 32Million
2000 1 The Beatles 31Million
2011 21 Adele 31Million
2002 The Eminem Show Eminem 30Million

I find it mental that 21 by Adele shifted as many units as it did in this day and age

Fantastic album.

Sure, it is what it is, it’s a pop album not a complex work of art but it’s great

remember how nme lost their shit over them? they were on the front cover every week in 2002 it felt like. pretty sure they were single of the week 3 times on the trot and they were in the top 20 albums of all time (and 1 on best debuts of all time). then the arctics happened and the nme realised they’d backed the wrong horse. the 00s were really strange.

they also called them the “saviours of rock” about a million times. some proper shark jumping moments in the nme in the early noughts.

I have no shame.

I really do

I don’t think I got into music until I was 14-15 so am struggling to get involved here.

That said, some of these choices were from times when I was either at university or after I’d graduated which makes some of you really young. Or me really old.

second gig I went to (supported by kula shaker no less)
