That’s a shame. They had a good crowd on the farewell tour, but I guess that focused the minds of anyone who’d kind of drifted in and out of them over the years.

Not mad on Rolo Tomassi. They’re a bit heavy for me, but imagine they could’ve been a fun support.

I think I was at four tet / explosions
Did four tet do a kind of glitchy set?

Reckon there were 16 people, including the bar staff and sound woman and R Seiliog, at the R Seiliog gig last night at The Waiting Room. Was still great, though.

15 people at Mister Wallace in Dalston on Tuesday night (Including me) - wasn’t very well advertised, though.

I’ve been to that venue several times and did a lot of gigs there with a comparable amount of people. It is a small room, so it isn’t that big of a deal.

In her defence, she did play a gig 2 months before that in Brussels as well. And that gig was sold out (in a room of equal size).

± 20 people:
Lali Puna, Prefuse 73, Annie

±10 people:
Jonathan Richman, Ital

These were all in venues with capacity of hundreds.

Saddest gigs were Maher Shalal Bash Haz or Mark Ernestus ft. Tikiman. They both started out to a rather large crowd, but at the end, only a few people remained.

But hey, beter to play for a small audience than to play for a large crowd who pay not attention at all. I once saw Josephine Foster at opening of ATP festival, and it seems as though noone was interested. She even complained several times herself (in a nice, loving way), but as noone was paying attention noone noticed she did.
Also saw Jason Molina with band once, while a large portion of the crowd seemed to be taling amongst each other.

This one is fairly heartbreaking.

To be clear, Ital wasn’t the same night or location as Richman.

But I asume you’re talking about Richman. Yes, it was kinda sad. Among the 10 visitors was also a little child, some great interaction between her and Richman there. And the gig was pretty nice, Richman gave all he got, in his own chaotic way. Started playing Egyptian Reggae, got bored with it after half a minute, started talking about a trip to Italy, which moved on to him singing some ditty in Italian with some French sentences thrown in, which reminded him of a trip to France and got him to start another song about France and so on and so on. Gig was in 2005.

Great artist.

Just remembered, a few months before that she also played a summer festival in Belgium. A good amount of people there. At moments, her sound got drowned out by Bloodhound Gang playing at another stage though.

Ah, actually I just assumed you were saying this was a crowd to see Richman in Italy. I think I did know Ital was a music artist but didn’t really take it in.

ATP 2.0 in Prestatyn had loads of these

Built to Spill played to about 40 people

Vatican Shadow played to around the same if not less

My Vitriol’s support act(s) at their London Scala show.

[in anticipation]

I probably said this last time the question came up but that AMOS Inbetween Days at ATP in 2010 was a really tragic sight, with a just handful of people left there to watch Hallogallo, Cave, White Hills, Emeralds, and Ulrich Schnauss. It was a massive shame as all the bands were ace that day and didn’t deserve to play to such a meagre audience, half of whom were having a little kip in the comfy chairs. I loved it, it felt like a private gig for me and a couple of my friends.

Saw Lafaro playing to 7 people in Oxford back in… 2010 or something? They dedicated two songs to each of us, and were awesome, but I felt a little sorry for them… That said, they seemed to be having loads of fun

I played that show! We ended up headlining as they wanted to go on first as their mates who had come to see them had to get the bus home. HYHI played as well I thnk.

They were such a great bunch of lads. Cracking gig.

I can’t remember if I stuck around to watch you (Ute, presumably) though? That’s weird. This was some time in the summer, and was a YMD show…

I wasn’t there, but I remember reading that Big Boi played a gig at the O2 Academy in Glasgow to an audience of <100. It was so poorly attended they set up a temporary stage in the bar area to make it more intimate. Pretty sure it was after Speakerboxx/Love Below as well, so at the peak of Outkast’s commercial appeal. :worried:

Turns out it was 160 (in a venue for 2500): http://www.theskinny.co.uk/music/live-music/reviews/big-boi-o2-academy-3-nov
