Stamford, Lincolnshire

I’m heading to Stamford, Lincolnshire on Saturday to watch Halesowen Town FC nail on fourth place in the last game of their season.

We don’t have a lot of time before the game starts, so wondered if anyone had any suggestions for a decent lunch (by decent I mean nice, not big - got to save space for a half time pie).

Afterwards I need to find a pub to watch Villa in the Fa Cup Semi final - any decent pubs that also show sports?

No recommendations sorry but I’d like to tell you that I once saw a floating jobby in Stamford baths.

Nice.

Blonde beet is vegan, cheap and tasty. Mama liz’s or cozy club are good options too.

Jolly brewer is pretty good and should have the football on.

Blonde Beet is supposed to be good, but we’ve never managed to get a table there!

Our default is usually Tobie Norris which is a very ancient pub with a modern, tasty pub lunch menu. And you can book a table which is key in Stamford on a saturday imo.

Don’t know about football pubs as I don’t do soccer, but Stamford is pretty posh (and would leap at the chance to leave Lincolnshire and join Cambridgeshire if ever given the chance) so footy pub might have to be outskirts?

We went to Blonde Beet and managed to fluke a table. Very, very nice food. And found a pub (The Millstone) to watch the game.

All in all, a great day out in a Stamford. Lovely place. Thanks for the recommendations!

A few - most of them were playing for Villa.

FFS! We failed to get a table at BB at least 5 times. An outrage!
