I enjoyed him, had never actually seen any of his stuff before.

I forgot he was from Belfast actually, thought he was from somewhere else in Ireland, explains why he’s been doing a few different comedy club shows all week. Didn’t know he was supporting until I got the venue and saw his name on the blackboard sign.

My friend had told me a while ago that he was crap based on some videos he’d seen so I had low expectations but I thought he was v good. Weirdly he’s headlining a much much bigger venue here next year, actually thought Ivo would be playing a bigger venue but The Black Box is my favourite place to see comedy (and probably music too tbh) so it was a big part of the decision to go along.

Going to see John Kearns tomorrow

Wasn’t quite sure what to expect from Kearns. Loved him on Taskmaster of course (enjoyed his radio sitcom Lasties with Tim Key before that as well) but knew that his stand up is more through a persona, with the wig and teeth. I’ve listened to some of his wistful Radio 4 shows done through that persona which were fairly amusing, although not as funny as I find him when he’s just himself.

Also wasn’t quite sure what the audience would make of it as there’d be a bunch of Taskmaster fans not expecting it to be like that (and it was in the Limelight rather than in the Black Box where the artsier comedy usually goes) so was worried that even if I really liked it, it might be awkwardly received in the room.

In the end he addressed all that from the very start (“The thing about doing a show like Taskmaster is that the ticket sales go up, but the laughs go down”). But he was absolutely brilliant, and the crowd loved it as well. Was properly crying laughing during a bit of audience interaction about The Snowman. One of the best I’ve seen this year.

Really really enjoyed Pat Cahill’s support set too, would see him again.

Went to see @ma0sm not @maosm 's friend Lara Ricote again

She’s so talented, surely gonna be big soon. Loved it. Had tickets to her a few weeks ago too and couldn’t go but apparently it was a completely different show

Another good one who deserves more recognition than he gets is Sid Singh

Bare in mind, this video is from a talent show, so it’s a bit watered down, but he’s definitely a thoughtful comedian where some of his bits come to mind periodically years later and still make me chuckle.

She’s on Live at the Apollo on BBC2 tonight

Big jump in venue size for Belfast from Black Box to Ulster Hall, not surprising as she sold out quite a few nights in the Black Box though. Glad I nabbed a last minute returned ticket for her last show as it was great to catch her in a small intimate room (will almost certainly go to this as well though)

I’ve also been pondering this

Guessing he didn’t address it on the night for fear of letting something slip but I think it was just an opportunity to add a show because he was over filming Celebrity Mastermind.

Outraged that only 11 people have liked this tbh

Oh dingers, fishing for likes? Youre lucky the mods refuse to implement like retractions!
