Maybe they thought that writing each film fresh without thinking of the next film had worked out for the original trilogy and had gone really poorly for the prequel trilogy so they’d just hope it was more the former than the latter.

To be honest I couldnt care less either way.
I just want more good Star Wars films.
Not like Lucas didnt pull things out of his arse all the time as he went along.

There’s a but in the new trailer where it looks like the fight that’s depicted on the poster and Kylo’s not got his mask on. What does that mean? I don’t know.

One take I keep thinking of about that shot is that they are Vader and Palps - certainly looks like their silhouettes at a certain point.

No pre-mapping doesn’t mean no oversight, fwiw.

The decisions taken with the plotting in TLJ will likely have been agreed with Kathleen Kennedy and/or other producers and execs at Lucasfilm and Disney.

(Eg, part of the reason Treverrow from IX was fired was because his script was bad.)

Don’t think this is any less valid way of running a long form narrative than Marvel’s more hands-on method, but obviously your mileage may vary on that.
