Stath Lets Flats

Just watched the last two episodes

I don’t think I ever got as emotional at any piece of art as I did at Al and Sophie confessing their love for each other.

Watched all 3 series over the last week

Realise I’m probably repeating a lot of what people have said here but it’s great! Not normally the sort of thing I watch, my go to comedies are Seinfeld, Curb, Partridge etc and I assumed this was a bit like Mrs Browns Boys or Borat but it isn’t.

Operates on a similar tonal level to Ted Lasso doesn’t it? You route for pretty much all the characters but it doesn’t dig too deep, keeps it more fun rather than Ted Lasso which leans a fair bit more into introspection and growth of the characters. I think the mispronunciations have more in common with Vic and Bob or mighty boosh or something, it’s the surreal imagery I’m laughing at rather than Stath and Sofie getting it wrong or looking stupid.

Al is a brilliant character, sometimes in shows the “nice guy” isn’t recognised as such by other characters and it’s left to the audience to route for them but it isn’t the case here, everyone loves him and quite rightly too. The scene of him declaring his love for Sofie is properly brilliant and moving - their whole relationship in the show is lovely to watch. Only thing I would have changed is maybe cut some of the slapstick stuff with his character, leave most of that to Stath who is great at it

Enjoy all the other side characters, even the pricks at the other agencies.

I don’t think there will ever be a 4th series as that felt like a great way to end - however a Christmas special of some sort would make a lot of sense, you can return to that world for various one offs anytime.

Al falling over is always excellent imo

Especially with the bottle of wine

That was great tbf. But that bit where he gets paint on his head when he gets startled by Sophie and when they start jumping up and down after his declaration to her and he bumps his head… minor criticisms though!

I have watched all of series 1 and 2 twice over the last couple of weeks (rewatched with sister)

I think it’s my favourite thing on TV that isn’t star trek or Peep show

Yeah I Googled the origin of this meme and was like oh wow OK

There’s a woman in my team at work called Dina and every time I see her name now I internally shout it in Stath’s voice

Recently started watching this after a friend recommended it, and it’s fucking brilliant.

Thought the episode where he goes to meet the hipsters in the cafe was really well observed.

Through reading this thread and seeing others changing their mind quite dramatically after watching a few episodes, I thought I’d join my other half in beginning season 3 this evening. Definitely coming round to it’s charms, the voices and malapropisms are clearly done with affection not malice and there are plenty of killer lines.

Just had one issue though… after this I watched the first ever episode myself so I could catch up…and it was immediately apparent that Stath used to be a far less cartoonish character, and his speech was much less “goofy”. It’s quite a jarring jump
