Episode 5 is my clear standout so far

Wait until you get to Episode 7

Just joined the one week free trial to watch these on Starzplay, only showing 5 eps have the rest been taken off or is it added weekly?

The first 3 were available straight away, and then they’re releasing the rest individually week by week on Sundays (i think).

Will probably have to pay the extra as just finished episode three and yeah is good

Think I loved this a lot more than I realised when watching it. Have just been listening to the score and it’s making me well up a bit…

Finally reached the end of this last night. I’m not really sure if I liked it all that much in the end. I found my enjoyment of the episodes varied wildly - the flashback ones to the early days after the outbreak were very good (particularly episodes 5 and 7), but I found the ones with older Kirsten often dragged a bit or were convoluted. The stuff with The prophet and the kids also started to veer a little too close to Walking Dead territory for my liking. It looked great though, and the wee girl playing young Kirsten is clearly going to be a star, isn’t she?

Yeah I’d agree with all of this. It’s weird as I like Mackenzie Davis in Terminator 6 but not here.

I think the problem with it was all the flashback stuff were pretty much all strong character pieces, just fascinating little mini tales, but the 20 years later old Kirsten stuff was concerned with a plot but didn’t really waste time on character.

It takes us 6 episodes to see the background to why old Kirsten is really like that but we’ve had to accept it jarringly. And beyond that we lack a strong character focus - people make choices that don’t make sense really except as plot devices. This also fed into how different the Museum of Civilisation and Clark were: more antagonistic than I recall in the novel.

What I really loved was how much more tied into the fabric the comic was, added lots of emotion to scenes that otherwise lacked it.

Overall it felt to me like it was 80% there but just fell short of greatness.

Finished this last night. I adored it. A weird, inventive, surprising slow burn that I found really, really moving.

I’m rewatching this. Genuinely think the third episode belongs in the conversation of the greatest single episodes in TV history.

Why the fuck isn’t everyone constantly telling people how good this show is!?

In my case

(Don’t actually remember episode 3. My favourite bit was the Tribe Called Quest but, which I’m sure was yours too, knowing you dig hip-hop.)

I’m going with: nobody’s seen it because nobody has Starz Play

(I do want to see this, honestly, but: see above reason)

The first episode and the TCQ episodes were best–really all the ones with Matilda Lawler. I don’t think the older actress was playing the same character, and that’s what the problem is.

Edit: Usually child actors aren’t that good, so the older one can do their thing without it being a big change. In this case, the child actor is so fantastic that the two parts feel very different. What’s worse is that they were interwoven so the change is drastic from one scene to the next.

The Miranda episodes are also great.

I took a while to get over some of the changes from the book and Chicago’s geography being mangled so badly. But after I got over myself, I loved it. It’s fantastic!!

Despite starting the thread I don’t think I shared my thoughts here enough, so will have to soon

Because this was the main benefit and weakness of the shoe for me. Felt some aspects were way less good than the book, while others were a lot more fleshed out

Haven’t heard much talk of this in my social circles but have had it in my list. Based on this thread it may be the next thing I start.

Also shout out to Nabhaan Rizwan as Frank, who’s just really incredible.

He was in the miniseries Informer where he is absolutely great and leaves Paddy Considine looking like large piece of ham.

It’s the Miranda-centric one. A complete tour de force of a performance
