When I was 18/19 I used to do town on a Saturday night with three ‘lads’, old school mates. These were the days when preloading at home wasn’t a thing so it was normal to do a section of town, visiting 5,6,7 pubs before heading for the nightclub around 10.30. I was ‘the sensible one’ i.e. the least pissed so it was always my job to be in the queue with my best mate who was generally three-sheets-to-the-wind and try to get him in. The other two would be further back because groups of more than 2 lads would always be refused entry with the inevitable ‘not tonight fellas’ from the bouncer
