Okay, so the “thing” about hipsters is that I used to see it as shorthand for enjoying something that wasn’t 100% beige…so basically it was an invented term used by people who were culturally barren.
But now…there is a subculture of people who’s personality actually is cottoning on to different trends at a high rate of turnover, who are also largely involved in the gentrification of places. So the term works for them…even though it’s still widely used incorrectly (i.e. the first paragraph)
