Don’t think I’ve ever been able to skip a stone, don’t have the knack for throwing things at all.
Went to a place called combe martin on our summer holidays. There’s a protected little harbour and when the tide goes out it’s perfect for skimming stones. Managed a 30 odd skipper. Good stones in North devon too. Perfect for skipping
This reminds me of a mortifying moment as a younger man where a friend’s Dad was trying to teach me how to skim stones and I missed the lake with my throw

Just N.America vs. UK terminology. My kids excitedly told their friends about learning how to skip stones in Canada this summer, and a grumpy mum let her kid know that it was skimming, not skipping.

When I throw a stone in the water it’s going in the water and staying in there. None of this pissing about on the top nonsense.
With the right stones an hour or so by the lake think I can crack this. Just a throw. How hard can it be?
