I thought it would turn out they’d stayed and she was on the police force.

Really enjoyed Stranger Things 3. Felt like a lot if the emo annoyance of part 2 was gone and they just let rip with it.

Fleabag’s brother-in-law maybe should be in there too. (Because he’s the same actor playing weirdly similar but different roles I mean)

Excuse me, but this is BAZINGA cherry pie

Four or five episodes in, and same as all the seasons, I really enjoy everything up until the point they actually get stuck into the story, which is always some substandard pastiche of far better sci-fi. I was liking the more comical vibe of this one as well.

I thought they managed to keep the boring hacky story bits that dampened the previous ones down for this one. Like the story was more of a vehicle for the interesting and well done stuff rather than them actually expecting me to give a shit about some mysteryless FBI conspiracy OR whatever

Really surprised at the positive reception this is getting. I think it’s a massive step down from season two, which in itself was a bit shit compared to season 1. This is… really ropey, and the gender/LGBT politics are pure trash.

I’ve got loads of complaints and don’t want to monologue but I will say, this show’s obsession with teenage relationships makes it seem like pervy duffer dudebros autobiograhical fanfic.

Really not seeing this anywhere

third season is the only one ive enjoyed, everything about the first season seemed like it should have been perfect but it just didnt come together for me, the main underlying story was just too underdeveloped, season 2 seemed like an unnecessary extension. where as this season just clicked for me, even though I still think the underlying story/premise was weak, it was just carried by the characters chemistry, had a sense of fun that really worked

Max’s S2 personality (angry teen who is into videogames) is replaced (loves shopping and talking about relationships). I think barely any of their conversations pass the bechdel test? She also had a storyline about being in an abusive home which seems to have vanished in favour of this stuff.

  • Will is (quite aggressively) queer coded, with his sexuality implied by Mike when he says “just because you don’t like girls” and there’s a beat of silence afterwards, implying Will’s sexuality is assumed to the wider group. To code him this way, but not confirm it, feels like baiting.

  • Robin being a lesbian feels like a cheap bait-and-switch, inconsistent with the prior writing. I want there to be more LGBT representation, but this attempt is poorly executed.

Am I the only one who thinks Robin in Stranger things would make a great Robin in a film version of Dark Knight Returns? Maybe

to be fair to the Robin thing, the writers had her and Steve getting together and it was only when the actors said “this doesn’t feel right, we’re pretty sure she’s gay” they changed it.

I still think it was really well done

And Max is still into games and comics, she gets El into Wonder Woman and tbh as a very girly/feminine nerd I liked that she’s both and not confined to an either/or. Same with Erica.

i was disappointed with the russia stuff just because it feels like we all live in donnie’s head now, and it sucks.

I have the excuse that I have a newborn so they may have been crying and I was undoubtedly tired but I totally missed the Robin is gay part. I assumed they were a couple at the end.

Fuck knows what i might have missed in Dark!

congratulations!

I didn’t pick that up about Will at all. I read it as him being that much younger/ less mature than the other lads, in the same way he was still dead into D&D when they’d left it behind a bit. Probably because he was stuck in the Upside Down while they were having adventures. Poor Will. Kid needs a new haircut though.

You might be right, it just never hit me that way.
