I’d get in touch with your local IWW branch and have a chat. Find out what they’re up to at the moment. In my experience the IWW benefits from being small scale and really dynamic but with worldwide support. On the other hand your local branch might be quite small and might benefit from a lot of your involvement.
I’m a member of multiple unions so if I want advice or a lawyer and the backing of a big and powerful organisation I’d probably go to unite. If I wanted direct action I’d go to the IWW.
If there’s a nice active group near where you live you could get involved with helping other workers in your community when they need support which is great, or you can get involved in small ways with helping workers anywhere in the world. Recently got an email asking to contact a factory in Germany on behalf of a couple of workers to show support. Little things like that.
IWW membership means you’re working towards building syndicalism which is great and anyone whose not a massive capitalist should think about unions as the best way to bring about that sort of change + there’s cool iconography and merch and a nice history. They’re cheap too.
I dunno what work you do but the IWGB and bakers union are so hot right now I should probably join to support what they’re doing because they’re so incredibly dreamy.
