I assume there will be another extra 30 mins for Saturday’s washout, so that’s what, 98 overs? I reckon they can eat up, up to 10 of those. but need to set a big enough target in that time. They might need the second new ball and to hope a lot.

Yeah, 98 overs and Broad was going on about wanting a second new ball so you’d think they’d bat for 10 overs at most (lose 2 overs for change innings so that’s 86 overs to bowl the windies out)

Needs an option for “way, way too long, probably until about 12.20, with various former England captains decrying the negativity despite all the evidence suggesting they would have done the exact same thing.”

Also quite looking forward to seeing how slowly WI can bowl their overs this morning.

Get 60 more runs in 7 or 8 overs, then set 280 in 88 overs, which will not be an easy target by any means.

Alternatively bat 10 overs and declare whatever the score is.

Even Sir “he needs more shots” Cook couldn’t be that brazen. The man was an utter coward when it came to declaring.

This is a good point actually, should have done the poll in terms of overs instead of time. Although I think on the final day, all the overs have to be bowled so they can go beyond 7pm making any Windies go-slow pointless.

Draw slight favourite I reckon behind an England win. I’d put absolute comedy option about 20/1 so not completely out of the question but pretty unlikely

Betfair have draw slight favourite and WI win at 20/1! Solid estimation sir.

I immediately went to betfair after posting and I see West Indies win as 30/1. Was expecting England win to be favourite as well, England odds always seem to better than I would expect but that’s probably just my anti-bants coming through

Realistically, and based on history, we should be able do it. 85+ overs with runs unlikely to be an issue, on a 5th day pitch which is already showing uneven bounce (see Blackwood’s dismissal), against a WI team whose bowling is more a strength than its batting. The only real thing in their favour is their absolute determination to bat out the day and thereby retain the trophy, and that’s what’s keeping the odds close I think.

And England odds are always a bit shorter than they should be, people like to bet on England to win and get behind them.

Should be a great day really, whoever gets the result they want will have to earn it. Really hope Bess has a good day.

it’s raining, apparently.

Yes, meant to say this. Given how it was looking at tea yesterday, I’m just happy we have a interesting of day cricket to look forward to

Some overheads would definitely be useful today, tbf

Was thinking that losing 3-5 overs for the odd bit of drizzle just to keep them going off and on the field might help England anyway
