Woakes is apparently out of the tests with a bruised heel, which is being put down to it having gone soft through lack of action. I don’t think the irony needs flagging up too much.

Decided I’m largely against the Hundred, but watching a bit tonight and that, that catch… watching it on Sky and the noise that KP and Brathwaite made was brilliant. He was off the side of the screen!

Yeah, that is a good one. Feels a bit like when they started punishing no-balls with free hits, suddenly no balls almost disappeared. There’s a good chance this might do a similar thing for slow over rates in limited over games when captains get burnt a couple of times.

Front foot no-balls anyway, you still see quite a few ‘above waist height full toss’ no balls. Didn’t England go literally years without bowling a front foot no-ball in ODIs?

Things I like about the hundred:

The previously mentioned cut-off rule
Bowlers being able to two ‘sets’ in row. Brings a nice little tactical subtlety into the game
England players having a major involvement in a domestic competition
