He is bit of a product of this shift between Bayliss/Silverwood “brand of cricket” stuff I think.

They wanted a more old fashioned opener but when scoreboard doesn’t go anywhere and we still up end 40-3 who knows what they are now thinking.

Think Crawley at top is still worth pursuing even if it’s at a later date due to his own bad form. He has shots to put the opening bowlers on back foot for a change

Agree with this lineup with the exception of Hameed, I don’t think they will drop Sibley. I would also like to see Mahmood instead of Overton purely for antiracist reasons but I don’t think that will happen.

I also don’t like Bairstow at 3 but he has to play there given Root’s reluctance to do so.
